HOW WE BEGAN
Seeing the need for a church in the community, a few people began to work together to organize one.
A canvas tent was rented and placed on Clark Hill. A two-week revival began on the 11th day of June in the year 1951. With the help of the Lord and cooperation of many who knew this was the work of God, the revival ended with great success. The Rev. Lawrence Garrett, Pastor of the Wax Missionary Baptist Church, brought the messages each night.
On the 17th day of June, a new church was organized. The name given to the church was Morning View Baptist and was to be built just off the Clarkwood Road on a hill facing the East. The property for the location of the church was given as a gift by Rev. Lawrence and Vivian Garrett. On this special day 39 people joined the church.
Morning View Baptist Church is located at 191 Clarkwood Road, Rockmart, GA - two miles from downtown Rockmart off of Highway 278W.
